Wrinkles, Crinkles and Crows Feet, Oh My!

My Mother recently sparked an interesting question, asking me if there were any natural alternatives to Botox or surgery for her facial wrinkles and crow’s feet. I started doing some research and here is what I came up with.
Crows feet or lines around the eyes are some of the first tell tale signs of aging. Of course we don't like them because they can make you look old and tired. Crows feet are caused when muscles in your forehead start to droop downward and push into the other muscles that surround your eyes. Other things that add to the formation of crows feet are your everyday smiling, squinting, frowning and whatever other facial expressions you make throughout the day. You may think surgery is the only way to get rid of your crows feet but it's not. And of course, we are not going to become stoic and expressionless for the sake of being wrinkle-free. If you are not in a hurry to head for the Botox needle, cannot afford it or just plain want to explore natural remedies then keep reading because here are some interesting, natural ways to reduce or eliminate crows feet and help to recover your youthful face and skin again.
Massage Your Forehead
You want to make sure you target your forehead when working to eliminate your crows feet. Your forehead is a major contributor to your crows feet. Massage your head from left to right with your fingertips for about 30 seconds. After that you want to massage in circular motions for another 30 seconds. Soon you will start to feel the energy flowing in your forehead which means that your muscles are being revived and strengthened. Also, make a conscious note to REALX your forehead muscles regularly throughout the day. Sometimes when I am deep in thought or tense from driving, I am crinkling my forehead. Just calmly whisper to your mind to relax the forehead, it will feel like you are pulling your ears back and you can actually watch it smooth right out.
Eye Exercises
Eye exercises are great for helping to eliminate crows feet. You can do very simple exercises to for a short period of time to fulfill this part of your crows feet elimination process. A very simple exercise for this is simply opening and closing your eyes. Open your eyes nice and wide for 3 seconds and close them tightly for 3 seconds. Do this repeatedly for ten times. Another good exercise is to hang over the side of your bed on your back. While doing this raise your eyebrows up and down. Do this ten times.
Drink Plenty of Water
Here it is again. Water is the key to EVERYTHING! Drinking water will restore moisture to your skin. Moisture will soften the fine lines and eliminate the appearance of crows feet. Drinking water is not only good for crows feet around your eyes but it helps to reduce and keep the wrinkles away on your entire face.
A good time to do your forehead massaging and eye exercises are either just before you go to bed and right after you wake up. You will gradually start to see a decrease in the appearance of your crows feet. Results vary for each individual but results are usually seen within a few days after you start your crows feet elimination massages and exercises.
Crows Feet Natural Remedies
Egg Whites
Firm up crow's feet with egg whites. This natural product can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and it is found in virtually every kitchen! Take 1 egg white, and beat it until it begins to form. Then, apply the egg whites on the outside of the eye area and along the cheekbone where crow's feet are most prevalent, between the eyebrows and on your forehead.
Allow the egg whites to dry, which should take about 10 minutes. Then dab the areas with water to moisten it up and remove with a cotton ball and cool water.
Moisturize with a serum or your favorite eye cream. Try to do an eye treatment each week for the best results, and drink plenty of water daily, so that the skin will stay well hydrated and firm.
Coconut Oil
Massage Coconut Oil on the areas before you go to sleep
Turmeric Powder and Sugarcane Juice
Apply a paste of Turmeric powder and sugarcane juice to the area, leave it to dry and then wash off with cool water
Vegetables and Fruits
Rub freshly cut vegetables like cucumber, potatoes, pineapple and papaya on the wrinkles. You can also use the pulp of ripe papaya or banana and apply to your face
Honey, Milk Cream and Olive Oil
Mix these together and apply to wrinkled areas

Using the natural remedies is a wonderful idea. As you can tell, most of these items can already be found in your home. However, preventing these little buggers from even taking place is FAR more important.
-Follow a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables
-Avoid smoking
-Keep skin hydrated with moisturizers and drinking water
-Protect your skin from the sun. Use an SPF in your daily moisturizer and wear protective clothing and/or a hat and sunglasses while out in the sun.
-Sleep properly- this means an adequate amount of slumber to rest your body and skin, and also laying primarily on your back so that you do not smash your face into the pillow adding to the wrinkle factor. I like a satin pillow case that keeps your hair from turning into bed head while on your back all night too.
-Chest included! On a side note, I always include my neck and chest in whatever treatment I apply to my face. When applying any type of cream or sunscreen, I ALWAYS pat on and apply in an upward motion on chest, neck and face. Try not to rub or wipe your skin too hard pulling or tugging on it. It feels to me as if gravity already naturally pulls down so it makes sense to do the opposite and lift back up!

Goodbye wrinkles, crinkles and crows!
HELLO smooth, taut and sleek!!
