Ombre Obsessed

The Ombre hair color trend has been running strong for well over a year now, (Actually longer if you think back to Sarah Jessica P in Sex and the City). Of course I become obsessed with it when I am under 6 months away from my wedding, but you better believe I am booking my hair appointment for April and plan to do this the minute I get back off the plane from Hawaii.

“Ombre” is derived from the French word meaning shaded or shading. The hair industry borrowed the name and has been applying it to hair in a fading frenzy-literally. The look appears to have roots or outgrowth, but that is actually, purposely achieved by applying a similar shade to your root area making your natural color look more rich and alive. Then the color slightly lightens down through the mid-shaft and then gradually getting a bit lighter from the mid-shaft to the ends. Think back to the days when you were a kid-teenager, outside all summer, surfing, biking or even hanging pool side. Remember your hair would be lighter on the ends and when it came time to do school pictures in the fall your hair was already darkening on the top? I do, in fact I could pull out multiple pictures from those days, but I won’t. :)

This style is perfect and ideal for a lifestyle that is low maintenance. This is not for lazy people, but best for busy professionals, Domestic Engineers, clients looking to get their hair health back on track and or clients that are just limited on time. There is still a small maintenance of keeping your locks looking luxurious, shiny and healthy to show off this style and therefore you would still need to come in a couple times a year to get your roots touched up and enriched along with your healthy trims.

I would also recommend coming in and doing deep conditioning and shine treatments along with your hair cuts and Keratin Smoothing Treatments to keep your locks at their shiniest and healthiest, completely showing off this look. The last thing you want to look like is Betty Jo from the trailer park (See Bottom).

(These 2 are a bit more extreme, I prefer the subtle version)

(What NOT to do LoL)

I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween and October. I have some fun thoughts and ideas coming up, so stay tuned. These last few months have been time consuming with wedding planning and work but I hope to get back to being more regular on here for you.

Happy Fall!
